Spring Break 2012!

What a wonderful week of playing SAHM and loving on my Tiernan!  We had an amazing week.  I wish we had more weeks like this.  I can't wait for summer!

Monday Tiernan and I went to the library for Toddler Story Time.  He LOVED the music, and I love watching him stand and sway back and forth bobbing his head... I need to get that on film!  He didn't care much for the stories, and was all over the place when it was reading time, but he got back on track during all the music breaks and play breaks.  At the end, they have a huge parachute that the kids all play under.  He really loved that part, and when she put the parachute away, he went right back for it and pulled it out and played in it.  They also have a machine that puts out ALOT of bubbles at the end, and he was all for that!  I tried to get some photos, but he was the youngest, and kept getting pushed around, so I had my hands full.

The funniest part?  At the very end, the librarian played the "Clean up, clean up, everybody, everywhere..." song.  I sing it at school, but I have NEVER sang it around Tiernan.  As soon as the song came on, Tiernan burst into tears and sat down and cried.  I guess he knew what time it was and didn't want to leave!

We went out into the library after story time so I could get some books for school, but Tiernan decided to de-shelve the entire display.  The librarian came up and asked "Will you be checking out these books as well?" and I got the hint that it was time to go.  We came home and he was sooo fussy.  Turns out he had a fever.  Poor little guy. :(

Tuesday we had a meeting with one of my students from school.  We went over to his house to observe an Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy session.  I hadn't planned on taking Tiernan, I originally thought the meeting was going to be in the afternoon, but since it was Spring Break, the hours were different.  He had a good time though, and was surprisingly well behaved.  He loved climbing up and down the stairs from their raised entry-way.  After that, we had a low-key Tuesday, and it was perfect.

Wednesday we had lunch and played at the play-place in the mall with Aunt Mickey!  Tiernan had SO MUCH FUN!  The play area at the mall was amazing.  The carpet was super-springy and soft, and all the toys were made out of some soft kind of thick foam.  They had a super fun slide that Tiernan absolutely loved climbing up and giving me a heart attack standing on top of.  When we got home, we made home-made pot pies.  Tiernan loved helping me roll out the dough.  OK, banging on the dough.  They were so delicious!  :)

Thursday we had lunch with a friend, and then went to Target.  Super Nanny says that when you take a child to a restaurant, you should have a special basket of toys to entertain them.  We tried that.  It kept him entertained for as long as it took him to take each toy out of the bucket and throw each one across the table and then throw the bucket.  But hey, I tried.  At Target, Tiernan bought a big red ball that he kept throwing out of the cart and having me and my friend chase around the store.  He has us so wrapped around his finger!

Friday we went to visit Correna and the twins!  They are so cute and TINY!  They are about 5 and a half pounds each, and even when Tiernan was first born he wasn't that little!  I had so much fun holding them, and it was so hard to chase Tiernan around their house at the same time!  Correna is going to have her hands seriously full in a year!  I can't imagine.  :)

My little dare-devil :)

Saturday we had a fun trip to the park at our apartment complex.  Tiernan laid down in the rocks and made a "Rock Angel".  It was the most adorable thing ever!  I wish we had caught it on camera!  We stopped at the leasing office after the park and it turns out they were having a resident breakfast!  We scored some chocolate chip waffles and juice and fruit.  Winning!

Big boy walking to the park!

Rock Angel!

Oooh, Daddy has Rocks!

Later Saturday we went to McDonald's to celebrate St. Patrick's Day with a "Mc"Nuggets and a Shamrock shake.  I know, it's a stretch to call it Irish food, but apparently our recipe for corned beef calls for 7 days of brining.  That didn't happen.   And Tiernan loves the play place, but next time we are so going to a different McDonald's.  The one in Rowlett is wayyy cleaner than the one in Garland.

That brings us to today!  We were pretty lazy today.  The perfect way to end the week!  I can't wait until Summer when I get to stay home with him even longer!  I can see just from last weekend to today how much he has learned.  He's turning the light switches on and off when we enter and leave rooms, and he's really starting to communicate more!  He's trying really hard to say ball and doggy, and he knows when I ask if he wants milk to run to the fridge.  I just love this boy so much!
